God is great. He made us very wonderfully. Not only us, but He created every creature very amazingly. Everything about God is wonderful. It is good to teach the children all these so that they will understand the things of God. If God is good to us like this. Give thanks.
We should show love and goodness to others. God loves the children. That is why Jesus Christ says Let the children come to me. Do not caution them. It is expected to teach our children in our churches, schools, and homes the bible stories that will make them learn more about things of God and the word of God. The word of God stands forever.
1. Give God Praise for His Creation
God has power over situations. God created seas, oceans, rivers, and other waters. They come in blue in red, or brown colours. God is mighty in power, and he rules over the creation, such as the waters, the trees, the animals, etc Seas can be raging or calm, but the Lord controls them all.
In the days of Noah, the flood covered the whole earth, but God took care of Noah’s family and caused the flood to dry up. Have you ever been to the beach? What does the water look like? It does not stay calm. It goes up, down, forward and backwards. It also makes a loud noise.
As great as the sea and the waters are, God created them and had the power to rule over them. Therefore, every creation, such as trees, the sea, hills, the sun, the moon, and man, must give Him praise.
As children of God, we must continually praise God because He has power over everything. As the psalmist says, the LORD on high is mighty. Children of God should praise Him for creating the world and everything in it for our good. You can read further related posts on our children’s ministry page on the site.
2. Thank God for every good act
Thanksgiving is an act of being grateful (or saying thanks) for every good act we receive. The passage is a thanksgiving song of the psalmist on why he must praise God and not forget His goodness. He thanked God for what He had done and for who He is. God forgives all his sins and heals all his sicknesses.
God did not allow him to die, showed him love and compassion, and gave him strength and every good thing. He also sang a song of thanksgiving because God is righteous. He helped the oppressed. He is not angry with His children forever when we repent. He is our father and knows us.
Can you mention some other reasons we must thank God? We thank God for who He is and what He has done for us and our family. We also thank God for the good things He has done for us, like redeeming our lives from the pit, forgiving our sins, etc. As children of God, we must never forget what God has done for us in the past and sing songs of thanksgiving to Him.
3. Exalt God for His Goodness
The psalmist talks about the goodness of God to all he has made. All the work of God’s Hand and the faithful ones exalt him; they talk of His glory in the kingdom and speak of his might. God’s love and compassion are for everyone. Anyone who accepts His love will enjoy the promises of his faithfulness.
So, God’s kingdom is everlasting; hence, the only unchanging person is God. His love and kingdom are permanent, and his dominion endures through all generations. As children of God, we desire to praise God for His love and faithfulness, who can give us true peace and joy, which is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
4. Give God Thanks for He makes Us Special
The Israelites stayed at Mount Sinai for some time. God instructed them to worship Him at Mount Sinai (Exodus 3:12). He told Moses to tell the children of Israel His plan for them. He said the children of Israel were His special people. He chose them to be His priests and a holy nation.
A priest is a person who leads people to worship God. A holy nation is a group of people who separate themselves to worship God alone. But the children of Israel must obey God’s instructions. They told Moses that they would do everything that God commanded them.
Then, God instructed them to wash their clothes and clean themselves. He told them to come near the mountain. God communicates with all His children. All children of God can also talk with Him. They are His special priests and holy people. He chose them to worship Him.
5. Give God an offering to thank Him
Moses guided the people to build a sanctuary for making sacrifices to GOD. Cows were used to make sacrifices. The cows must be clean and neat. The people will put their hands on the heads of the cows. God will accept them when they put their hands on the cows. God called the priests to make sacrifices for people.
The priests will kill the cows and collect the blood of the cows; then, they will pour the blood on the altar. The blood must cover all the sides of the altar. They will burn the skins and the meat of the cows with fire. God likes the odour of burnt animals.
An offering is a gift we give to God whenever we come to church for worship. The act of giving of sacrifice/offering is a form of worship. Jesus Christ was killed as our animal for sacrifice (John 1:29). We do not need to kill animals to worship God again.
We worship God in our hearts. God wants us to give Him our bodies, living sacrifices or offerings (Romans 12:1-2). Our body is the house where God wants to live. When He lives inside us, He will speak with us.
As believers, we should also give our time, songs, dancing, clapping, and money to God as offerings. Our hearts must be cleaned. Our bodies should be neat. We should wear clean clothes. We should give a good offering. He will like our worship.
6. Thank Jesus Christ for He Saves Us
From Today’s lesson, John the Beloved sees Jesus as the only one who has the power to save us from our sins and make us live with Him forever in heaven. Because Jesus is the Son of God and the Lamb who died for our sins and rose again, he is the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, the victorious one.
The writers of this passage also see Jesus as the one who is worthy to take the scroll (like the Bible we read today) and open its seals because He has used His blood to purchase for God, the people from every tribe and language and people and nation.
Therefore, He is the only one to whom all authority in heaven and on earth has been given (Matthew 28:18). He alone has the power to save us and help us to overcome. And this made Jesus Christ different from other religious leaders. So, open your heart and invite Jesus to come and be yours forever. He is always with you and ready to help you.
