Child dedication is essential in the life of every child. The day the child is dedicated is the day he is committed to God for a purpose and fulfilment in life. When a new child comes into this world, every positive person will be happy for the child’s coming.

The day of the dedication depends on the culture of the community. Everyone should know that child dedication is not a matter of dining and wine only; it is a time of committing the child to the care of God for the fulfilment of his or her purposes in life.

The child is the gift of God

When a baby comes to a family, every positive person is happy with the news. Those who are looking for such gifts will still look up to God for such gifts. The child is a gift of making and taking care of him or her from the womb until he or she is born. God can never leave alone.  The following Bible verses will be good for use.

Deuteronomy 6:4-5

says, “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.”

1 Samuel 1:26-28

says, she said, “Oh, my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you, praying to the Lord. For this boy, I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the Lord.” And he worshipped the Lord there.”

Psalm 127:3-5

says, “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,; so are the children of one’s youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; they will not be ashamed; when they speak with their enemies in the gate.”

Psalm 139:13

says, “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.”

Jeremiah 1:5

says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Luke 2:40

says, “The Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.”

Matthew 18:10

says, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.”

Psalms 139:13-14

says,  “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Bible verses to train the child

When the child is born, he or she needs training. A child who is not well trained cannot fulfil his or her God’s purposes or promises. says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Ephesians 6:4

says “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

James 1:17

says, “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”

Exodus 20: 12

says “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.”

Dedication of the child to the Lord

When a child is born, it is important to dedicate him/her to the Lord because he or she is the gift of the Almighty God. If a child knows God from the baby, he or she will not suffer in life. This is because the child has been led to climb the ladder of God from the beginning. We can learn from the examples in the Bible and these verses will help.

Luke 2:22

says, “And when the days for their purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord.”

1 Samuel 1:11

says, “She made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and a razor shall never come on his head.”

Mark 10:13- 16

says, “And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” read more.”

Matthew 19:14

says, “But Jesus said, ”Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Psalm 8:2

says, “From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength. Because of Your adversaries, to make the enemy and the revengeful cease.”

Ecclesiastes 12:1

says, Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no delight in them”.

Blessings of the child

When a child is born, he or she needs blessings from God. Even Jesus Christ blessed the children during His own time. Not only the blessings of God; the child needs the blessings of the parents.

The blessings of the parents go a long way in the success and achievements of the child. The following Bible verses will help when you want to bless the children. The child will be taken to the church too and receive the blessings of the pastors.

Mark 10:16

says, “And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them.”

Jeremiah 29:11

says, “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”

Luke 18:15- 17

says, “And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them. Numbers 6:24-26

Psalm 115: 14

says, “May the Lord give you increase, You and your children.”
