Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines celebration as“something special or enjoyable for an important event, occasion, etc. or to praise something or someone or to say that someone is great or important.”
It also means praising something publicly or making it famous. God is worthy of being celebrated at all times. When we think of His nature and divine acts, we realize that He deserves praise and thanks.
Introduction
As believers, we cannot deny God’s goodness over us, which should cause us to celebrate Him. His works are evident around us and we cannot deny the fact that there is no one comparable to God. Today, many people celebrate their wealth, academic achievements, status, and the like.
They forget the Creator and worship the creatures. Believers need to realize that it is in celebrating God that we are being blessed the more. Like David. we should celebrate God with a grateful heart, irrespective of circumstances.
Reasons for Celebrating God

Celebrate God for who He is
There is no excellent and mighty.HeGod becausea.He is God by Himself. Our God is great; therefore, it is fitting to praise Him. is merciful and compassionate. His kindness is unlimited. We should be willing and ready to celebrate God daily.
Celebrate God as the Creator
God is our creator. He made us in His image. And we are the crown of all his creatures. The psalmist said ‘We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. God’s intention for creating us in His image is for us to worship Him. As such, if we refuse to celebrate Him, we are not fulfilling the reason for our creation. Therefore, we should be grateful to God for making us fearfully and wonderfully.
Celebrate God for His provision
Another reason for celebrating God is because He is our provider. God is the owner of all things and He gives them liberally to His children. He provides consistently for His children. Just as a shepherd meets the needs of his flock, God provides for our daily needs.
Celebrate God for forgiveness
Our heavenly Father is rich in mercy. He extends His mercy to us by pardoning our iniquities. He did not leave us in our state of helplessness but sent His only son to die for our sins. Romans 3:23 affirms that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
The forgiveness we receive from God cannot be quantified. He lavishes us with His grace. It is therefore necessary to celebrate God.
Celebrate God for His deliverance
Life is full of challenges. Often, we are confronted with situations that are meant to destroy us. But God always comes through for us. God’s mighty deliverance is evident in our lives. We experience different kinds of deliverance from sickness, accidents, spiritual attacks, and soon. He alone deserves our praises and thanksgiving.

Celebrating God should be a lifestyle for every true disciple. We should diverse practical ways to celebrate Him. Below are some of the ways to celebrate God:
Living to please God
As disciples, living to please God daily should be of utmost desire. The Scripture affirms that the Corinthians gave themselves first to God before their offering. They understood that it is their lives that matter to God above material things.
So as we celebrate God, we must be conscious to assess if our lives are pleasing to God. By doing so, every other way of celebrating Him will be acceptable to Him.
Giving offerings and tithes
Giving our resources to God is a duty, not a choice. Having enjoyed the goodness of God, we can show our gratitude by giving out what the Lord has blessed us with, as offering and tithe.
One of the instructions God gave the Israelites was to bring all tithes into His house (Malachi 3:10), and that instruction applies to us. We would realize from the Scripture that the command is for our benefit as we also reap the benefit of obedience.
Donating resources toward God’s work
There are many needs in God’s house. And God has made provisions to meet those needs. Disciples can celebrate God by meeting the needs of the church through special donations. This kind of giving is born out of appreciating God for a specific reason. Such reasons could be birthdays thanksgiving, housewarming, promotion, academic achievement and so on.
Composing songs of appreciation
Christ’s disciples should cultivate the habit of singing to the Lord. New songs can be composed as an appreciation of God. When we develop a lifestyle of meditation on God’s goodness, we will be inspired to sing or compose songs as an offering to God.
The playing of instruments
There are many musical instruments believers can use to celebrate God. We can learn to play instruments as an act of worship to God. Accompanying songs with instruments makes renditions more melodious.

Celebrating God through Hymn Singing
One of the ways believers can cultivate the habit of celebrating God is through hymn singing (Ephesians 5: 19-20). Sometimes, people find it difficult to see reasons why they should celebrate God’s faithfulness. They quickly forget that there is no time when God is not good to them.
At such times, one of the ways to beat ungratefulness is through hymn singing. Our hymnal contains songs in the hymnal can stir up our faith to celebrate God. We should cultivate “giving thanks in all things for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 18
