Prayer is the key, and it is powerful to break the strongholds. It is the only weapon we have to select good leaders to seek the face of the Lord for direction and guidance, so that suitable and God-fearing people can be identified as leaders. This article examines 40 prayers to help in the Selection of Leaders for Key positions.

1. Thanksgiving

Thank God for the lives of all our former leaders and their family members. Praise God for all who have served. Praise God for all their achievements and give God all the glory. Thank God for all that God has accomplished in this organisation during his tenure in office. (Psalm 148).

2. Confession

Pray for mercy; that God will have mercy on the organisation (mention it), have mercy on us and forgive us all our sins and trespasses (Acts 3:19). Confess as many of our sins and trespasses. (Acts 3:19).

3. Search Committee/Panel of Selection

Pray that God will direct and guide the chairman of the search committee and the panel of selection for the selection of the new leader. Pray that God will be in the affairs of this organisation. Pray He will be jealous over His people and take control. (Isaiah 55:4).

4. Search Committee/Panel of Selection

Pray that God will satisfy the Search Committee. Pray that God will cleanse their hands, purify their hearts, and open their eyes and ears to the will of God (1 Samuel 16:-7)

Bind the minds and thoughts of the search committee and panel of interviewers to Your mind, Jesus.  Pray that God will work in the minds and thoughts of the selection board. (Isaiah 55: 8-9)

Loose the minds of the search committee from every stronghold that may want to manipulate them against the mind of Christ. (Ephesians6: 10)

7. Strongholds

Destroy every satanic stronghold, every demonic networking in the high and low places that will want to hinder the emergence of God’s choice for the service. (1 Peter 5 8; Matt. 26: 31, 2 Sam 15: 31-34).

8. Procedure

Overtake and overturn every carnal strategy of the election process and procedure, no matter how deeply it has been entrenched in our tradition. Replace it, Oh Lord, with your Holy Spirit-led procedure. (2 Corinthians 10 3 4).

9. Mobilisation

Pray that God will mobilise our hearts to have faith in His choice for the development of this organisation. Pray that God will help us to trust Him alone and we will all accept His choice for us. Pray that God will mobilise us to join hands together and bring spiritual revival to the body of Christ.

10. Mobilisation

Pray that God will mobilise our hearts to pray and intercede continually until His will and agenda for this organisation are achieved. Send your revival, Oh Lord. (Ezekiel 230).

11. Fellowship

Pray for the fellowship of the Holy Spirit to join in the recruitment and selection process. Pray for the power to lead as we respond to the staff and the rod. Pray that God will not need to give us promising candidates who will lead us with thorns and thistles (Psalm 32:8).

12. Congregational System

Break the arrogance of democratic procedure, which fits into our congregational system of government and threatens to push out the leadership of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 13 1 3).

13. Policy and Vision

Pray that God will provide the person who will be able to run the vision and respect the policies of this organisation successfully. Pray that our polity will not make our leader an object of politicking and easy manipulation. Pull down every negative stronghold in the polity. (2 Peter 1 5 11; 1 John 4 1-6).

14. Responsive to Change

Pray for leadership and fellowship of the organisation for grace to respond to the Holy Spirit-led change and restructuring. Pray that we will cooperate with God to record achievements. (John 10: 3-5)

15. Flowing with River of Life

Pray that God will give us the leader who has integrity and fear of God; a man who drinks daily from the River of Life and is overflowing with the life of God with enough to give millions in the body of Christ ( John 3 5-7; John 7 37-38; Ezekiel 47).

16. Carrying His Cross

Pray that God will give us a leader who will deny himself, carry his cross daily and follow Jesus.

17. Qualified by God

Pray that God will give us a leader who will meet the criteria of God. Pray we will be more concerned with heaven’s choice, standard, criteria and value measurement as stated in the Scripture than following civil service criteria and worldwide. (1 Samuel 2:35).

18. Standing with God

Pray for a leader who has correct standing with God; a man who is not an alien to the heavenly council; a man who gets the unbroken attention of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. A person at whose word the hosts of agents tremble in readiness for service, and hell, plus his demon, crumbles in fear. Elijah says, “In the name of God before whom I stand.”

19. Location

Pray that God will fish out His anointed one, whoever he is, whatever he is. Break down every barrier between God’s will and our will (1 Samuel 16 6-12)

20. An Ardent Follower of God, Well Discipled to Disciple Others

Pray that God will give us a leader who is a faithful, seasoned disciple of Jesus Christ. A person discipled enough to handle the key of the church or religious organisation, and not look people out; a disciple who can disciple millions of others (Luke 9:23; Matthew 16:18-1 ).

21. Family

Pray that God will give us a leader whose wife is a helpmeet indeed; a wife who will be the true mother in the convention, a woman of passion for Jesus, love for Christ, concerns and readiness to serve; who has children who obey the Lord and can serve as models to other children. (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Genesis 2: 18-23; Titus 1: 5-9; Ephesians %: 24; 1 Peter 3:1; Ephesians 6:1).

22. Viable Altar

Pray that God will give us a leader with a viable altar and acceptable sacrifices; pray for one whose prayer altar will continually bring down abundant showers of blessing, healing virtues, deliverances and jubilee for the followers. (Genesis 4 3-7; 2 Chronicles 31:21).

23. A Spiritual Man

Pray that God will give us a well-trained and equipped spiritual man, an experienced spiritual warrior, well clothed in spiritual armour, who will lead the church under Christ in spirit warfare from one level of victory to another level of victory (Ephesians 6:10-17).

24. Mission Consciousness

Pray that God will give us a leader under whose leadership the mission work of this organisation will expand to the nations. Pray for a progressive leader, a missionary at heart, a kingdom builder, a soul winner, and an evangelist at heart. (Romans 1 11 5).

25. Rebuilder of Ancient Ruins

Pray that God will give us a Body of Christ. Pray for a leader who will give us a stronger Biblical foundation, who will re-clothe the church with righteousness and integrity. (1 Kings 1830-31).

26. Leadership Ability

Pray that God will give us a leader who Himself will lead to lead the organisation, the church and staff/members. We reject a leader who will be led by vanity, evil caucus, evil media, greed and occult. Give us a leader indeed, not one whom the sycophants will be leading to error. (1 Samuel 15:11).

27. Good Manager of Human/Spiritual Resources

Pray that God will give us a leader who will manage the spiritual resources of this organisation, making sure there is spiritual planting, pruning, harvesting and replanting all year round. (2 Timothy 2 20-21).

28. Holiness, Truth and Integrity

Pray that God gives a leader whose target is to be holy and perfect, as our God is perfect. Give us a true and faithful leader whose word can be believed, trusted and followed. Give us a man of truth whose yes is yes and no is no. (Titus 1 7-9, 2 John 2:1-2).

29. Administrative Skills

Pray that God gives us a leader who is gifted and skilled in administration and diversity; a leader who has administrative wisdom and energy to manage people and resources to fruitfulness. (1 Corinthians 12:28, Romans 13:4, 14:16-1 ).

30. Wisdom and Fear of the Lord

Pray that God will give us a leader who will lead us in the wisdom of God, not in carnal intellectualism, human philosophy, politicised manipulation and empty stories; a leader who fears the Lord in private and in public. (Proverbs 4; Proverbs 8:1 1 Corinthians 2: 1-5).

31. Word of God

Pray that God will give a leader who has the Word of God; a leader who is filled with the Word of God and lives by the Word of God; a leader who can feed the flock with correct doctrine and Word that is light (Colossians 3:16; 2 Timothy 2:15).

32. Good Manager of Financial Resources

Pray that God will give us a leader who is neither a waster nor a vagabond. Pray for a wise investor, a true and faithful manager under whose leadership the financial resources of this organisation will increase and be wisely used for the propagation of the Gospel. (Matthew 25 14 30).

33. Bridge Builder and Vanguard of Peace

Pray that God will give a leader full of the love of God and meekness of Jesus; someone who will bind all factions together in love and unity; a person who will continue the good work of reconciliation and peace. (Philippians 2 1-2; Philemon 1 8-10).

34. Good Manager of Human Resources

Pray that God will give a leader who will minister effectively to all age groups, irrespective of their location, gender, tribe or calling. A person under whose inspiration will locate their areas of calling and be willing to fulfil their ministries. (Matthew 24 46 51).

35. Spiritual Gifts

Pray that God will give a leader who is located with spiritual gifts needed to operate successfully in office at such a time as this; a person whose gifts will draw non-Christians to the saving cross of Jesus Christ and bring open heavens to believers. (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).

36. A True Light; Dead to Self

Pray that God will give us a leader who God’s Spirit has conquered; whose will has been broken, whose personal agenda has been overturned, whose carnal soul has been shredded, who is dead to self, so that the purity of the Holy Spirit can ooze out to conduct the followers of sin, of judgment and of righteousness. (Galatians 5: 15-26; Galatians 2: 20-22; Luke 9: 23; Philippians 1: 20-26; 2 Corinthians 4: 10-12.).

37. Revival Consciousness

Pray that God will give us a leader who is hungry and thirsty for revival. A leader who is highly dissatisfied with the mediocrity of the status quo. Pray for a leader who is thirsty for a church without spot or wrinkle. (John 3 1-6). Ready to make the road for the second coming of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 22:14).

38. Health

Pray that God will give us a leader who is healthy spiritually, physically, emotionally, mentally, psychologically and ethically. (3 John 1:2).

39. Spiritual Fruits

Pray that God will give us a leader who will be full of the Holy Spirit; who bears the fruit of the Holy Spirit and love, joy, peace, endurance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5: -25).

40. Holiness and Diligence

Pray that God will give us a leader who is a holy man of peace who will make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy. Afterwards, of mind, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected.

41. Belonging to the Body of Christ

Pray that God will give us a leader who sees the big picture of the church/organisation. A leader who is sensitive to the wholeness and oneness of the Body of Christ; who has a burden beyond denominational borders; a leader who will lead the organisation to become a model for the church universal; and a leading light in the Body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 3 -17).

42. Thanksgiving and Worship

Thank God for answered prayer. Worship God and accept the new leader by faith. Celebrate a brighter future, a jubilee, kingdom expansion and a bountiful harvest of souls. (Hebrews 1 6-8).
