Deuteronomy 14:3. The two boys (Esau and Jacob)were the children of Isaac and Rebecca. They were different in appearance and temperament. Jacob was a quiet man who stayed at home most of the time, while Esau was a man of the field, full of vigour and enjoyed adventure.
Jacob schemed to get the birthright of his brother, Esau. This shows that he doubted that God would fulfil His promises concerning him, as in Genesis 25:23. Faith is living without scheming. Esau had no spiritual appreciation. As a result, Esau despised his spiritual privileges as the firstborn child.
1. Eat Rightly
(Deuteronomy 21:17 and 1 Chronicles 5:1-2). He chose the flesh, not the Spirit. He chose food and not God’s promises. He could not control his appetite; he preferred to trade his birthright to satisfy his stomach. The soup he ate was detestable, not because it was bad, but because by eating it, he sold his birthright.
In Israel, the birthright is the right belonging naturally to the firstborn son, whether the offspring of a legal wife or a concubine. This is a person who became the head of the family through him. As an estate. What a pity for Esau (Please read Hebrews 12:15, important paper and admission to the higher institution.
Your food
Detestable food is any abominable food. It is any food that or odorous now that there is nothing bad in saying No to anything, especially giving your body, stealing or begging for food. Whatever, trust God for His provisions. He will surely provide for you (Psalm 3:10; Philippians 4:19).
It is not all the food offered that one could eat. In what ways can teenagers trade their birthright to satisfy their stomachs? One needs to be selective and know what is good for him/her as a child of God. Some teenage girls have fallen victim to rape because they were unable to control their appetites.
They were raped because they drank what they were not supposed to drink or eat. Be warned and disciplined. Be the Daniel of your time by refusing to defile yourself as a result of the king’s food (Daniel 1:8).
What makes food detestable?
⦁ When the motive of the giver of the food is evil.
⦁ When the food is meant to lure you into immorality.
⦁ When the food has been offered to an idol.
⦁ When the food is spoiled or harmful.
⦁ When the food is shameful.
How to eat rightly
⦁ Fill yourself with the Word of God.
⦁ Be self-controlled and disciplined in the way you eat.
⦁ Develop contentment.
⦁ Have control over your passion and taste.
⦁ Resolve to please God even in your appetite.
2. Weight struggles
Read Judges 3:15-25. The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and He gave Eglon, king of Moab, power over them. Eglon, together with the Ammonites and Amalekites, made the Israelites serve as slaves for eighteen years until Ehud delivered them and gave them rest for eighty years.
After Ehud presented the tribute to Eglon, king of Moab, who was a very fat man, Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king’s belly. The king had a big belly.
Exercises
Ehud did not pull the sword out, and the fight closed in over it (Read Deuteronomy 32:15). This is because the king was too fat. He could not even struggle with Ehud because of his weight. Bodily exercise benefits us only during this life, whereas godly exercise is profitable now and for eternity.
However, both are important to God. When you cultivate the habit of exercising your body, you will enjoy good bodily health till death. As much as God wants us to enjoy eternity, he expects that our health will prosper. Teenagers must make their bodies their servants and not their masters.
Discipline
Discipline yourself over food; do not eat too much; avoid junk foods, sedentary lifestyle (do not sit in one spot browsing, talking, reading, and exercising; trek when necessary. Learn to work hand in hand with one. You stand the risk of being obese or overweight if you are not29.9 is overweight, while one with a BMI of 30 and above is obese.
BMI is calculated by putting your weight (in kg) over your height (in metres)squared, or by inputting your weight and height into a BMI calculator. What can you say about your lifestyle? Is it sedentary or active? A sedentary lifestyle is when one sits or stays in a particular spot for a long period without any physical activity. Some teens have big tummies, thighs or arms. There are some exercises you can do to control this.
However, you need to watch yourself closely so that you are not underweight. Eat regularly and eat a balanced diet. Do not skip meals. You can also check your weight regularly. This will help you to sustain your weight. Do you know your weight? Is it commensurate with your height?
How to Avoid Excessive Weight Gain
⦁ Know your weight.
⦁ Do exercise daily.
⦁ Eat moderately.
⦁ Avoid eating junk foods.
If you notice any increase in your weight, report it to people who can help you out.
3. Way out to Body wellness issues
Read Jeremiah 30:17; 33:6-9. God can heal your diseases and forgive your sins, no matter how deadly or serious they may be. Judah was a “sick” nation (Isaiah 1:5-7). She was sick because of her sins and wounded because of her disobedience, such that no medicine could cure the entire nation.
This is because there is a connection between sickness and sin. The nation sinned against God, and He punished them by allowing the devourer to come upon them. However, when they cried unto the Lord, the Lord promised to restore them.
Restoration of health
He promised restoration of health to them. He promised them healing and cleansing. God forgave their sins and restored their land. They once again enjoyed abundant peace, prosperity and security. The Lord promised and declared, “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds…(Jeremiah 30:17)”
The disgraceful city, which would have been destroyed, became a testimony to all the nations of the world of the marvellous goodness and grace of God. This is what God can do, no matter how one has been brutally damaged by sin or sickness. However, not all sicknesses come as a result of sin and disobedience. God sometimes allows sickness to allow His name to be glorified.
Know that the promises of God are also for you. God has promised that He will restore the health of His children, though it may seem impossible with human understanding. Can you mention some of the incurable diseases in our days?
Are you sick and need God’s divine healing? Or have you fallen into sin and you need God’s mercy? Know for sure that God can heal and forgive your sins; no one is God who heals. Your situation is not hopeless.
God can still restore you and make you whole. Remember that God is an ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1-2). He has the power to divine healing and forgiveness (Luke 5:17). Turn to God today, confess your sins to Him and trust Him to bring health and healing to you. You will also enjoy abundant peace and divine security. ⦁ Know that you are never alone; God is with you.
⦁ Accept Him as your Healer. He is Jehovah Shalom.
⦁ Confess your sins if there is a need for them, and call upon Him for mercy
Obey the rules of diet; know how your body works, and be obedient to God’s law.
4. Practical medical checkup
Read 3 John 2. John may be sensing here that his dear friend, Gaius, was not well, and John was praying for his health to be restored. Physical health is described as nutrition, exercise, cleanliness, proper rest, and the disciplined sequence results in a balanced life. Spiritual health is the result of similar factors. We must nourish ourselves with the Word of God, and then “work out” that nourishment through a godly lifestyle (1 Timothy 4:6-7). To prosper could mean to have a good career, education, and the like, which are possible only when one has good health.
The state of the body has a great influence on the mind and soul. It is the organ and agent of the bot, and if it is unhealthy, our impressions of the outward will be untrue, and our influence upon the outward will be limited and weak. The Apostle wishes that our physical body be in good shape and fit for whatever we want to do for the glory of God. Hence, to prosper in physical health, there are some medical check-ups that we can undertake from time to time.
⦁ Blood pressure check
⦁ Blood sugar check
⦁ Self-breast examinations
⦁ Weight check to see if you are overweight or underweight, BMI
⦁ Dental examinations.
⦁ Scrotum or prostate examination.
⦁ General body examinations.
